Glen, Mississippi

Alcorn County

(submitted by Gerald & Tammy Westmoreland)

This town is about nine miles southwest of Corinth and has its origin in the building of the Memphis & Charleston Railroad. In its early days it was known as Glendale, and was so marked on old railroad maps. Until the depression in the early 1900's the town had a telegraph station with an operator who also doubled as the station agent. This service was abolished about 1932.

The Glen Consolidated School was built in 1937, and included a four-year high school, with an enrollment of 270 pupils.
