Located about eight miles west of Corinth, Theo was settled by Tom Meeks in 1857. Meeks moved here from North Carolina, built a home, and in time erected a store in which was located a star route post office.
Mr. Meeks also built a cotton gin on the site, but no one seems to know why he called the place Theo. The community propered several years but by 1939 it was mostly extinct.
