Auris was established in 1875, eighteen miles northwest of Kosciusko and was known as Kelly's Store, for John Allen Kelly. A post office was secured in 1888, and Kelly requested that it be named Annis for his daughter, but instead the Postal Department named it Auris.
The place became extinct with the closing of its post office in 1900.
