Carmack, Mississippi in Attala County

Carmack was first known as Providence, with Abraham Ricketts, who bought his land from the native americans, being the first settler.
It was established in 1830 about 6 miles north of Hesterville. The name changed about 1870 in honor of former Representative Carmack of Tennessee.
