The village of Hesterville was formed in 1840 about 8 miles NW of Kosciusko. It was first called Palmer's Springs and then Cedar Grove.
Green Hester, for whom the place was named, operated a store and a post office. Other early settlers were Hastings D. Palmer, Colonel Ayres, Dr. J.H. Porterwood, Rev. Porterwood, Dr. J.H. Temple, Dr. Delmar Campbell, and Dr. C.A. Pender.
