Newtonville was the name of a post office which served the Doty Springs and Providence Communities for many years. Although the date of the establishment of this office is not known, it was in operation prior to 1870. Reverend David Burney, a missionary Baptist Minister, whose home was near the Providence Cemetery, was the postmaster in 1870. The office was moved several times, always located on the old Wire Road or just off the road in the home or store of those operating it. The post office was discontinued in 1910.
