The first settlers arrived here in 1850 but it was not until 1919 that a man named Alford built a sawmill near the Illinois Central Railroad at this site a few miles NE of Kosciusko. The building of the mill made it necessary to have a station located here for the loading of lumber. This was done, and since the station was located on a part of Judge McCool's Plantation, the stop was named Plantation. This railroad stop was discontinued in 1923.
