George Arnold Renacker, III obituary - Lowndes County, Mississippi

(submitted by Gerald & Tammy Westmoreland)

27 Jun 1952 - 5 Jan 2007

George Renacker went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2007. Daddy, George, Buddy, or Pop - however you knew him, he was a great man. To his children, he was a loving father. To his church and Emmaus family, he was a genuine and sincere servant. To his parents and siblings, he was a beloved son and brother. To his four grandchildren, he was 'Pop' - a devoted, selfless grandfather.

A life-long resident of Columbus, George could normally be found sipping early morning coffee with friends or behind his workbench repairing jewelry. But his passion was his family and his life in Christ. George's leisure time was spent supporting church camps, hosting family barbeques, cheering on his Mississippi State Bulldogs, and still finding time to play dinosaurs and have tea parties with his grandchildren. His smile brightened our day and his love warmed our hearts.

George is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Guerry Renacker of Columbus, MS. Parents - George and Grace Renacker of Columbus, MS. Son - Mike Renacker (Melissa) of Jackson, MS. Daughters - Natalie Glover (Brian) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Katie Foxworthy (Paul) of Tupelo, MS. Sisters - Ella Ann Pennington (Billy) of Vernon, AL, Kathy Wallace (Randy) of Aberdeen, MS, Karan Shirey of Columbus, MS, and Sherri Ingram (Dan) of Columbus, MS. Brother - John Renacker of Jasper, AL. Grandchildren - Nick & Drew Renacker, and Brianna & Ava Glover. Pallbearers will be his brother John and nephews Joshua Guerry, Walton Guerry, Johnathan Guerry, Ken Shirey, Jay Rowe, and Randy Wallace Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Robinson, Alvin "Scooter" Hammers, Billy Harris, Sonny Casmus, Ralph Jennings, Don Upton, Ron Thomas, Randy Luker, and Clint Dye.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 8, from 6 to 9 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 10 AM at Shaeffer's Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the cemetery at Artesia Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the George Renacker Memorial Fund through Shaeffer's Chapel. Too often we fail to recognize the opportunity to experience full, meaningful lives. Even though he was taken far too early, Pop's life was full and meaningful. He spent his life bringing joy to his family and friends. We celebrate his life and his legacy, and thank God for our time with him. We will miss you Pop!
